Gain Aggregated Data Through Survey Reposts

Reposting a survey on Polco is a powerful tool. This feature allows you to gather data at various levels-- both local and aggregate-- by posting the same survey through participating organizations. Here are some of the ways communities use survey reposting on Polco:

  • City leagues seeking data at both the city and League (statewide) level
  • Nonprofits seeking data at both the local (chapter) and regional or national level
  • Media organizations seeking data from both members (like a local newspaper) and organizationally (regional or statewide)
  • Membership-based associations seeking data at the member and organizational levels

Only the parent organization sees the aggregate data, and each participating organization can view their own survey results.

Here are some tips for leveraging the power of reposting:

  • Use a survey from the Polco Library or create your own. If you make your own survey, be sure to use general language (like “your city government” or “your organization”), as repostable surveys are not editable.
  • If you’re creating your own survey, be sure to let us know so we can add it to the Polco Library. This way, your intended audience will be able to access it.
  • Let participating organizations know that once they’ve created their Polco profile, they can find the survey in the Polco Library by searching for key words or following the short URL.
  • Share suggestions for outreach to your participating organizations. Some templates for social media outreach can be found here.  Best practice is to share the survey URL multiple times, through multiple channels.  For example, you may want to ask the participating organizations to share with their channel partners such as a local school district.  Other ways to share include through social media, on organizational websites, through email, newsletters, or any other way that participating organizations normally communicate with their constituents.

  • Check out the resultsBecause results can be seen live on Polco, you can see all of the aggregate data as it comes in as well as what participating organizations have reposted. With up to date survey insights, you can adjust outreach to ensure broad representation from survey respondents.
